Fastelavn is an old danish tradition. Normally it is in the end of february, but this year it is now. Danish kids dress up as whatever they like to and then we have this tradition with a barrel. We take a wooden barrel, and inside there are candy, fruits and other sweets. The kids now have to smash the barrol to get the sweets. In the old days they put a living cat into the barrel! And The cat died! It was a way of getting bad things to go away! But it was a very long time ago! The kids also go to the doors in the town and sing for candy or money, almost like the american trick or treat for Halloween, but during the daytime.
